HOW IT WORKS

From behaviour to a list of cows to check.

01 · MEASURE

A sensor on the animal.

The SmartTag records cow activity. Data transmitted to the installation allows changes to be followed over time.

02 · IDENTIFY

Unusual activity.

The system compares current activity with the animal’s usual behaviour. A characteristic increase can trigger a heat attention.

03 · ORGANISE

A decision on the farm.

Review the cow, her history and the insemination timing guidance. Check the animal and organise the intervention with your usual advisers.

An alert indicates probable heat. It complements the farmer’s observations and assessment of the animal’s situation.

Neck or ear heat detection sensors?

SMARTTAG NECK

A neck-worn sensor.

A monitoring solution carried on a collar. Depending on the reference and configuration, identification and locating functions can complement behaviour monitoring.

SMARTTAG EAR

An ear-worn sensor.

Another way to equip animals for monitoring. Choose according to your working practices, required functions and installation compatibility.

An RFID identification tag alone does not measure activity: it allows the animal to be recognised. Understand electronic identification →

USING YOUR DATA

Velos or Nedap NOW: which interface?

The sensor collects data; the interface allows you to view and use it. Separate Velos and Nedap NOW pages explain their environments and help you prepare a possible upgrade.

Your questions about cow heat detection.

What determines the price of a heat detection system?

The budget depends on animal numbers, selected sensors, coverage, existing installation and services. A quotation should specify equipment, installation and any subscriptions. Discuss your project with AGYE for a proposal suited to your farm.

Can an existing Nedap installation be extended?

Review sensor and reader references, software configuration and existing functions. Prepare these details with your distributor before planning an addition or upgrade.

Is cow locating the same as heat detection?

Heat detection helps identify cows to check. Locating helps find an animal in the barn with the necessary equipment and functions. Explore sorting and cow locating →
